Motion is lotion

Sitting at a desk all day? Feeling constant tension in your neck and shoulders?

Your spine is made up of vertebrae that are designed to bend and rotate. With poor posture and little movement the muscles connected to your spine weaken and stiffen. This is felt as tightness or tension.

Tension anywhere along your spine will cause surrounding joints to be impacted and lose range of movement. By increasing mobility in your upper back, you will decrease tension in your neck, shoulders and lower back as well.

Try mobility exercises to reduce pain and increase movement. The Open Book exercise is a great one to get you started. Check it out below.

OPEN BOOK:

-Lie on your side with arms stretched in front of you-Keep your bottom leg straight, bend your top leg 90Degrees

-Take a deep breath – As you exhale, raise your top arm toward the ceiling and to the floor on the opposite side

-Take another deep breath and return your arm to the original position

-Repeat 8 times on each side.

Keep moving, remember motion is lotion for your body.
